Talking Mr. T (1983)

Talking Mr. T (1983)

Another entry in the half-assed attempt to document some of the things from my childhood that I'm now rehoming. Galoob's Talking Mr. T doll was released in the UK in 1983, afaik. I received it for Xmas, along with a bunch of A-Team stuff. It was a good year!

Cadbury's The Transformers Card Game (1986)

Cadbury's The Transformers Card Game (1986)
Promotional Game by Waddingtons Games Ltd for Cadbury's

I don't recall how I came to own the Cadbury's TF Card Game. I was a chocolate eater at the time, so it may have been a token collect thing, or it may have been another jumble sale purchase. The memory of it is lost to time.

The packaging is a simple cardboard wallet inside which are housed 30 cards. The wallet measures approx 90 x 120 mm. The cards are approx 57 x 87 mm.

In addition to 2 instruction cards (see below), there are 7 unique card designs: 4 Autobot + 3 Decepticon (also below). Each of the 7 designs are reproduced 4 times for a total of 30 cards. The objective is to obtain all 4 cards of any one design, so there being more 'Heroic' than 'Evil' characters doesn't unbalance gameplay at all.

Various: TV Pilots + First Episodes

There are many TV Series from yesteryear that I'd like to check out — either for the first time, or from a more experienced, adult perspective — but for various reasons don't have time to do so.

TV Pilots / First Episodes can help decide what to prioritise, so I'm taking that route. I typically get more joy from 70s + 80s TV than I do from modern stuff, so I'm starting there. Call it an 'age thing' if you want. I'm Generation X. Rather than let those encounters go to waste or be forgotten in the years to come, I've chosen to record some of them here. In the order watched:

Mr T

Mr T

I know Mr T from only four things: Clubber Lang in Rocky III (1982); B.A. Baracus in The A-Team TV Series; and as himself in a motivational exercise video and a TV snack bar advert. I've not followed his career, nor am I aware of any scandals or wrongdoings that he may have been involved in (if any such things exist). My respect for Mr T is derived from either the characters he played and/or what they represented. That's what earns him a page all of his own.

Ten Commandments - Millennial Redux

Lo, snowflake!

The Ten Commandments appear in three different versions in the Bible, in Deuteronomy 5:6–21 and twice in Exodus, namely 20:2–17 and the 'Ritual Decalogue' of 34:11–26.

Different editions of the book may use different words or more archaic grammar, but in current times they're generally accepted to be as they're written below (in grey).

I wondered what a simplified, modern interpretation of each one might be, because the times demand it (those ones are in orange). It's for fun, so don't get your subligaculums in a twist over it. Satire is good. Tyranny is bad. Don't confuse them.

To Lessen is Lesson Two

Things I Have Leaned, or Believe to be True
