It's Wicked - UK Comic (1989)

It's Wicked - UK Comic (1989)
Authors + Illustrators: Uncredited | 17 Issues, approx 24 pages each (C2C)

A short-lived weekly comic published by Marvel Comics Ltd (UK), sized like The Beano + The Dandy, etc, not the standard, smaller US Marvel titles. Its target audience seems to have been readers of the latter two publications, too. There's no superhero stuff and it's not US reprint.

Issue 01 is dated 20th May 1989, but the earliest one that I own is issue 06, which is pictured below alongside the publication's final issue, number 17, dated 09th Sept.

In the issues that I have, recurring strips are Slimer (The Real Ghostbusters version); Billy Bones; Zombears - Night of the Living Teds!; Ghostman Bat and His Black and White Rat; etc. I won't name them all. There's a pic below with each one's logo, which is more fun to look at. [1]

What's interesting about It's Wicked, in general, besides the fact that it shamelessly mimicked the two aforementioned big-hitters of the era, is that thematically its strips had a supernatural but comical tone. That was a fairly uncommon selling point at the time. But it's not surprising that it closed shop early. The limited content just wasn't worth the asking price.

[1] Comic Vine lists a few strips that aren't in any of the issues I own: Inspector Spectre: Private Eye; Best of Fiends; Winnie the Witch Doctor; and Ghoul School. I don't have logos for those.
